Ok. I know the contest rules stipulate local designers only. But as someone involved in 6 of the 9 festivals I felt compelled to throw my disqualified hat into the ring. I have a suspicion I'm not the only one to do so either.
After my friend
Mark got on my case about the contest and my lack of entry I decided to go ahead and see what I could come up with just for the experience. The contest aside this was a really great little project. Since working on the
Millennial Mayors Congress poster last year, and a few other projects, I've really been enjoying compositing more pixels in with my vectors.
For the DEMF theme I wanted to create a schematic with an info-graphic feel, coupled with imagery I've developed for previous festivals (i.e. the record rainbow). I'm especially proud that all of the photography in this image is my own. I typically have to rely on stock photography for specific content and textures. This composite utilizes 3 of my own photos for texture and a shot of the Detroit skyline I took 3 years ago.
